PORE SIZES 20-300Å
With increasing pore size of the silica gel, the adsorption capacity for polar compounds (i.e. water) increases. Some of the wide pore silicas may adsorb up to 2 times their own weight of water. Higher porosity associated leads to a lower bulk density and reduced mechanical stability. The latter is less affected with spherical materials.
