Desiccant for closed systems
Desiccants in the form of sachets and cartridges are used for the targeted adsorption of water vapour in closed systems. They enable controlled humidity regulation and provide reliable protection against corrosion, condensation and material degradation.
Finishes and materials
Cartridges are made of dimensionally stable plastic and are designed for applications involving mechanical stress as well as for reusable applications.
Dry bags are made from a breathable, tear-resistant polyester composite material. This ensures an optimal balance between water vapour transmission rate (WVTR) and particle retention.
Alternatively, versions made from thermoplastics with customised diffusion, temperature and sealing properties are available.
A comparison of adsorbents
Als Füllmaterial kommen silica gel or Molecular sieves in use:
- Silicagel:
A cost-effective solution with high adsorption capacity in the medium humidity range - Molecular sieves:
High adsorption capacity even at very low relative humidity (< 10% RH) thanks to a defined pore structure
Technical specifications
- Pack sizes: approx. 100 g to 5 kg
Typical parameters (depending on the material):
- Adsorption capacity:
- Silica gel: up to approx. 25–35% by weight
- Molecular sieve: up to approx. 20–22% by weight
- Water vapour transmission rate (WVTR): designed for specific applications
Custom design
The selection and sizing of desiccants depend on the specific operating conditions, in particular with regard to target residual moisture content, temperature profile, system integrity and required service life.
